Hey welcome back! So glad you came back... let's make money!
Welcome back to mindset monday, to be honest I look forward each week to monday’s and an opportunity to share something about personal development and a mindset for success.
Believe it or not but your success in online business has more to do with your mindset than it has to do with your skills or your abilities.
Your mindset, your beliefs, your world view, your attitudes, your thoughts, will direct your destiny and your future.
Even the most skilled internet marketer or business person will be set up for failure if they have a negative mindset or the wrong attitude.
I know from my own journey my mindset has directed me to both success and failure, but as I’d like to discuss in this post, we may fail in one or two or even more attempts to create success, but we only fail if we choose not to pick ourselves up, dust ourselves off and try again after reassessing the reasons we found ourselves short of success.
Failure Is Not An Option
I’d like to suggest that some of the most successful people in the world, whether they be Donald Trump, Richard Branson, Walt Disney, Henry Ford or Bill Gates, adopted this attitude towards building their business and creating success, and built a belief that failure is not an option.
This does not mean that they didn’t have failed attempts at business startups or ideas.
Richard Branson for example and his global brand ‘Virgin’ is littered with so-called failures including;
- Virgin Cola, which was touted to be the next Coca-Cola.
- Virgin Clothes which was floated on the stock exchange in 1996 folded including losses to shareholders.
- Virgin Money was launched with a glitzy advertisement of Branson emerging naked from the sea, but did not deliver the expected big financial rewards.
Then theres;
- Virgin Vie
- Virgin Vision
- Virgin Vodka
- Virgin Wine
- Virgin Jeans
- Virgin Brides
- Virgin Cosmetics
- and more…
None of which fulfilled the creators vision of success.
But… you must have a big But to be a success, dont forget that…
But… This did not stop Richard Branson from building a Global, and now Intergalactic brand which we all know as ‘Virgin’.
Failure was just not an option… it may have been a pause or an intermission between his successes, but failure was never a place where he allowed himself to dwell.
Decide right now for yourself, whatever it is that you’re attempting to build - Failure Is Not An Option!
How does this apply practically?
1. Accept failures as test on your way to success
When we determine in our mind and our heart that failure is not an option that is not to say that we will hit our homerun first time we step up to the base.
I stepped into business at a young age and with a mega positive attitude and false expectation that unlike most successful entrepreneurs, I was not going to take 2 or 3 goes to make my millions… no sir. I would be an exception to the rule, and everything I touched would turn to gold baby!
Now I encourage this positive outlook, but if you dont hit the homerun first time you step up to the base, be ready to refocus and go again. Its one thing to have great expectations and dreams, but dont spit the dummy and take your bat and ball home if you dont achieve them first go, or if the results dont come for you the first time.
Its okay for failures to be stepping stones, just dont let them be your tomb stone.
2. Develop a Problem Solving Outlook
Failures are a great opportunity for improvement. If you look at failures with a negative mindset you will only get discouraged.
Develop a problem solving outlook when you’re assessing your failed attempts and use it as an opportunity to do better on your next try.
Ask yourself these questions:
- What went wrong?
- What would I do different next time?
- Is it worth attempting again?
- Is there actually a market for this?
- Who could I ask for advice in this field?
- Have I made this mistake before?
I’ve heard it said many times that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing and expecting different results.
Often we can create habits in our lives which create negative results, but fail to change those habits and create new ones, building patterns of failure in our life.
Develop an outlook to analyze and assess your business or project to identify opportunities for positive change.
This leads right into my third point…
3. Turn your failure into success!
Do you know that your failure could ultimately become your success if you address it with the right attitude.
“How?” you say…
Well if you’re not reaching your goals in a particular field or business endeavour, then chances are there are other people around the world who are in the same boat right?
So…
Step 1. Identify the issue
Be able to articulate the issue precisely and succinctly.
Step 2. Develop a solution
Firstly identify a solution. Ask other people around you if they have a solution, speak to experts, research your issue, become the expert in the field.
Step 3. Develop a product to teach how to apply the solution
Once you have a solution to your issue you can easily develop an information product teaching others how to apply the solution and achieve the desired outcomes.
This could take the form of a cd, dvd, live presentation, mini-course, home study course, membership site etc
If there are enough people searching for this solution you have yourself a business - it’s that simple.
4. Dance Until It Rains!
When failure is not an option we dont continue to do the same actions expecting different results but we dont ever give up on our dreams and our goals.
The path may change from where we started out, the methods may be adjusted, but we dont give up on our journey to success, whatever success may mean to you.
I heard a fantastic story of an american indian tribe who were known for their amazing ability to do the ‘rain dance’ and see results, they were known throughout the land and other tribes would travel far and wide to learn their secret to bringing rain and what was so special about their rain dancing ability.
One day an elder of another tribe travelled days just to speak to an elder from this famous tribe to learn of their secret.
He arrive after many days travel, sat down with this elder, expectant, waiting to hear their secret. He asked them “what is your secret? How do you see such success with your rain dances?”
The elder replied “We dance until it rains.”
Dance Until It Rains!
As long as you know you’re on the right track, and your actions are the right actions - dance until it rains! Persistance pays off.
As the saying goes there’s no point flogging a dead horse, but it is also true that so many people give up right before their point of breakthrough.
Did you know that according to physics, the resistence is greats right before the point of breakthrough.
Dont give up - push through to your breakthrough.

Nathan this is my first time on your blog - I LOVE IT ! Your words here in this edition of Mindset Monday REALLY REALLY resonate with me in way that brings exceeding gratitude which words could harldy due justice right now. Let’s just leave it at this: Two weeks ago I quite a fulltime OK paying job of 11+ yrs. and a career (if you can call it that) of 25+ yrs. in delivery driving, in order to get this “Make Money Online” thing figured the rest of the way out - AND IMPLIMENTED ! I set a goal last fall of being out of my 18whl. truck for good by “Independence Day” 09, (here in the states) and though I was NO WHERE NEAR ready,(by most peoples standards) for several pretty good reasons, (by my standards) I put in my notice a few days before mid June. June 26th was my last day. Now mind you I did this DESPITE the fact that thus far I’ve not generated a single dime online! I have around $1500 /mo. in living expenses/bills and ZERO income as I write this. AM I CRAZY - many many people would say HELL YEAH ! But they have no idea how much time and money I’ve put into research, study and self education over the past few years regarding the dreams I seek to follow. So did I put myself into a true “sink or swim” situation ? YOU BET I DID ! Do I feel confident that I can “start swimming” pretty damn soon - - well let’s just say that FAILURE IS NOT AN OPTION.
I most certainly can’t wait to read more of what’s already here, as well as that which you’ll no doubt be bringing forth in our near future. I also look forward in no uncertain terms to (as you state on your bio page) seeing you in Austrlia soon. Many blessing upon you and yours my new friend ! Keep up the great work and your awesome and inspiring attitude. Take care, be well ! Adios - Jeff in Oregon
